The Heart of the Journey: A Mother’s Intuition

Deborah’s path into holistic therapy began at home. When her young son suffered from severe eczema and felt a deep-seated fear of conventional allopathic treatments, Deborah sought a different way. Together, they discovered the healing power of aromatherapy. Witnessing her son’s relief and recovery was a pivotal "lightbulb moment" that redefined her understanding of health and became the catalyst for a twenty-five-year career in wellness.

 

From Clinical Practice to Digital Innovation

Since commencing her formal training in 1999, Deborah has built a formidable foundation of expertise. From community-based education at The Bridge Project to advanced studies at Sunderland City College, her journey led to the attainment of a BSc in Nursing Studies (Mental Health).

After years of running her private practice, Calm Oasis, Deborah faced her own period of profound challenge following medical injuries. True to her resilient nature, she evolved. By rebranding as The Digital Holistic Therapist, Deborah has aligned her practice with contemporary digital approaches. This transition allows her to manage her ongoing rehabilitation and disability while providing affordable, high-quality multi-media learning tools to a global audience.

 

Authentic Authority: A Trauma-Informed Mission

Deborah’s commitment to being a truly trauma-informed therapist is rooted in deep, personal lived experience. Having survived domestic abuse and witnessed the devastating impact it had on her children, she understands the consequences of trauma from the inside out.

She channels this history into her current projects, developing heavily researched courses on Domestic Abuse and Violence. By blending her clinical nursing background with her personal journey of recovery, Deborah provides students and therapists with a unique perspective that is both academically rigorous and profoundly empathetic. Her mission is to ensure that the next generation of therapists is fully equipped to support the complex needs of trauma survivors.

Deborah’s teaching is underpinned by a lifetime of accredited learning:

• Clinical Excellence: VTCT Diplomas in Body Massage, Aromatherapy, Indian Head Massage, Hot Stone Massage, and Reflexology.  

• Energy Healing: Reiki Master Teacher (Levels 1–3) provided by Michelle Simmonds Eastern Lineage.

• Specialized Knowledge: School of Natural Science Diplomas in Hopi Ear Candling and Homoeopathy.

• Educational Foundation: BSc in Nursing Studies (Mental Health), PTTLS (NCFE), and City & Guilds Teaching certificates.
